Common Materials And Surface Treatment Methods For CNC Manufacturing Parts
The commonly used plastic is ABS. Material characteristics: high strength, good impact resistance, moderate fluidity, good coloring performance, good surface treatment performance; Easy to process and good appearance. Low creep and dimensional stability, stable heat resistance and chemical properties.
Ordinary ABS is classified by type:
1. Fire rating: ABS+GF30% fiberglass used for making automotive parts, electrical appliances, hair dryers, TV case prototypes,CNC machining household prototype
2. Electroplating grade: used for making large-area adhesive shells (300 mm)
3. Laser carving level: Black, excellent anti white effect of lightning carving
It is also a commonly used PC plastic: (bulletproof glue, which is one of the most common transparent adhesives)
Material characteristics: Has good mechanical processing performance; High strength, good toughness, poor flowability, and high molding accuracy. High moisture absorption, poor wear resistance, better vacuum plating effect than ABS, and better ultrasonic performance
POM: Material characteristics:
The POM has good fatigue resistance and impact strength; Good creep resistance; Wear resistant and self-lubricating function. Low water absorption, easy to shape and process, good injection flowability. The shrinkage rate is relatively large, and the material properties are slightly brittle compared to nylon. The first choice for making gears and bearings, so cnc machining POM gears are very welcomed.
PMMA: commonly known as acrylic
Material characteristics;
High transparency, it is one of the commonly used materials for making lenses; The transparency is very good, with a transparency of up to 92%, good dimensional stability, and good fatigue strength; The molding shrinkage rate is high, the flame retardancy is relatively poor, the material properties are relatively brittle, and the surface hardness can be higher after hardening. It can be used for vacuum electroplating and spraying. Screen printing, transfer printing and other processes can be used;
PP:Material characteristics: commonly known as Baifolded glue, with good toughness, similar to white wax, low density, strong temperature resistance, good flowability during injection molding, easy to form, poor surface treatment, and difficult to fuse. High shrinkage rate, prone to shrinkage. PP material surface: cannot be sprayed or electroplated.
PVC:Material characteristics:
High mechanical strength and good glossiness; Superior electrical performance; Anti aging, good acid and alkali resistance; Stable size, better molding effect than TPE during injection molding; Poor temperature resistance; Not environmentally friendly.
The surface treatment of PVC includes spraying, vacuum electroplating, screen printing, pad printing, etc.
Aluminum is commonly used in hardware: Material characteristics: low density, light weight, good heat dissipation, not easy to rust, excellent conductivity; Surface treatment usually involves oxidation and sandblasting.
