CNC Machining Of Metal Parts: The Cornerstone Of Precision Manufacturing

CNC Machining Of Metal Parts: The Cornerstone Of Precision Manufacturing
Details:
In modern manufacturing, CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining is the core technology for achieving high-precision metal parts. Whether it's the internal components of car engines, joints of robots, or casings of medical equipment, CNC machining has become the preferred process from prototype to mass production due to its excellent precision and consistency.

Application scenarios of CNC machining

Automotive industry: engine cylinder blocks, transmission gears, brake calipers, suspension components, etc. CNC machining can meet the requirements of automotive parts for high strength, high wear resistance, and complex geometric shapes.

Robots and automation: robotic arm joints, reducer housing, connecting brackets, end effectors. Robots have strict requirements for weight and stiffness, and CNC machined aluminum and titanium alloy parts perform excellently in this regard.

Medical equipment: surgical instruments, orthopedic implants (such as titanium alloy plates), dental implants, CT machine components. The medical industry requires material biocompatibility, traceability, and unparalleled surface finish, which CNC technology is fully capable of.

Aerospace: aircraft structural components, engine blades, landing gear components. These parts require high-strength materials (such as 7075 aluminum alloy, Inconel high-temperature alloy), and the tolerance is often within ± 0.01mm.

Consumer electronics: smartphone frame, laptop case, camera lens ring. Aluminum alloy and stainless steel CNC machined parts can provide excellent texture while ensuring dimensional stability.

Commonly used machinable metal materials

Characteristics and Applications of Material Categories and Representative Grades

Aluminum alloys 6061, 7075, 5052 are lightweight, easy to cut, and corrosion-resistant; Suitable for shells, brackets, and wheel hubs

Stainless steel 304, 316, 17-4PH with high strength, corrosion resistance, and hygiene grade; Suitable for food machinery, medical equipment, and ships

Carbon steel/alloy steel 45 #, 40Cr, 4140 has high hardness, wear resistance, and low cost; Suitable for gears, shafts, and molds

Copper/brass C3604, C1100 have good thermal conductivity and easy processing; Suitable for electronic radiators, valves, and connectors

Titanium alloy TC4 (Grade 5) has extremely high strength and good biocom patibility; Suitable for aerospace and medical implants

FAQ:

1.What is the minimum order quantity for CNC machining?

There is no absolute lower limit. We support a minimum order of 1 piece, which is very suitable for prototype validation and small-scale trial production. If produced in bulk, 100 or more pieces can obtain a better unit price.

2. Can we quote without 3D drawings?

We need 3D files in STEP/IGS or STL format to accurately evaluate processing time and material costs. If only 2D drawings or physical samples are available, we can provide reverse modeling services (at an additional cost), but we strongly recommend providing a 3D model first.

How long does it usually take to process a part?

Prototypes/samples usually take 3-5 working days, small batches (≤ 100 pieces) take about 7-10 days, and large batches are evaluated on a case by case basis. The expedited service can be shortened to 24 hours, and an additional expedited fee is required.

How to choose between CNC machining and 3D printing?

CNC machining: suitable for metal parts, high tolerance/surface requirements, and mass production.

3D printing: suitable for complex geometric shapes, plastic prototypes, and extremely low quantities (<10 pieces).

5. Can you provide surface treatment?

Okay. We provide one-stop services such as anodizing (natural/color/hard), electroplating (zinc/nickel/chromium), powder coating, oil spraying, screen printing, polishing, blackening, etc., without the need to look for other manufacturers.

How to ensure quality?

We are equipped with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), height gauge, and roughness gauge, with 100% inspection of critical dimensions, and provide material and dimension reports (upon customer request).
