Metal anodizing is a process that forms a dense oxide film on the metal surface through electrolysis. It is primarily suitable for aluminum and aluminum alloys, while other metals such as titanium, magnesium, and zinc can also undergo anodizing. Among these, aluminum products are the most widely used due to the strong adhesion and cost-effectiveness of their oxide films.

The core functions of anodizing focus on three key dimensions:


1. Corrosion Resistance and Wear Resistance: The oxide film can reach a thickness ranging from several micrometers to tens of micrometers, effectively isolating the metal from corrosive media such as air and moisture. This makes the metal resistant to rusting in damp, acidic, or alkaline environments while significantly enhancing surface hardness, improving wear resistance by 3 to 5 times compared to untreated metal.


2. Aesthetic Enhancement: Through electrolytic coloring or dyeing, a variety of colors-such as silver, gold, bronze, and black-can be achieved with uniform and durable finishes. Combined with processes like sandblasting or brushing, it meets diverse aesthetic requirements for different applications.


3. Functional Expansion: The oxide film exhibits excellent adsorption properties, serving as an ideal base for subsequent coatings to improve paint adhesion or bonding effects. Specialized anodizing processes can also impart additional properties such as insulation, thermal conductivity, or high-temperature resistance, making it suitable for a wide range of industries, including electronics, aerospace, and construction.
